WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY: BLACK LIVES MATTER

These have been a very difficult couple weeks and we are heartbroken. As if the pandemic hasn’t put enough pressure on us all, and claimed so many lives, we continue to deal with the evil repercussions of a system that is rooted in some awful truths. And these truths continue to be amplified more than ever by the most recent and tragic murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.

One thing that truly resonated this week were Killer Mike’s words when he addressed what’s going on; “We must plot, plan, strategize, organize and mobilize.” It starts with signing the petitions, calling officials, demanding justice, donating if you can, march if you can, and taking it upon yourself, if you’re white, to educate yourself on what white privilege actually is and understand how the system is designed to align with that privilege. We also need to VOTE.

This has to stop. The violence, brutality and RACISM. This has gone too far, for far too long. Enough is enough. And while even as we all unite as decent HUMAN BEINGS, the task at hand to initiate change is overwhelming, but if we mindfully engage, and don’t let up, LOVE can be louder than HATE. Keep the cameras rolling on these motherfuckers, expose the murders and police brutality, and please keep safe — we know a lot of you are putting yourselves in harms way.

Make your voice heard. Humanity needs it now more than ever.

JD WILL PLAY ROADBURN 2020

A two decades long absence did little to dull the jagged edges of Jeromes Dream. They came hurtling back into our lives earlier this year with their newest album, titled LP, reminding us what we’d been missing. That angular anguish and skin scraping abrasion is still there, but there is admittedly more nuance and a few notable junctures of what could be described as atmospheric, almost shoegaze-esque passages. Time may not have eroded the spikiness of this band, but it has added a little more order to the chaos.

So, it’s with much joy that we welcome Jeromes Dream to Roadburn 2020. It’s not just because we want to corner them and quiz them about their part in a scene that has proven to be so influential and generated so many beloved, treasured records - that is, in fact, just a potential bonus. However, their history is inescapable, woven throughout their newer output and entwined with who and what the band is now, in the present day; the sound of growing up never seemed so appealing.

“We’re truly honored to be invited to participate in such an amazing lineup of artists. We cannot wait.”
